All Ireland Football Final Sunday – Thing 2
All Ireland football final Sunday is fast approaching and
our hearts are beating faster than ever.
The might of Dublin going for 3 in a row against proud Mayo aiming for their
first win since 1951.
When Mayo defeated Kerry by 2-16 to 0-17 in the All-Ireland
Senior Football Championship Semi-Final Replay on Saturday August 26th at Croke
Park, we knew it would be another September for us. I hope it wont be a case of “dreams fled away” as the poet states.
So what does All Ireland Football Final Sunday mean to
me? It means wearing the red and green
jersey of Mayo with pride. It means
travelling the long road to Dublin usually with one of my sisters in anticpation
of a win. It means walking through the
Dublin streets meeting and greeting friends, relatives, neighbours and complete
strangers on route to Croke Park.
You watch the players from both sides at their physical and
sometimes emotional peak and you admire their athleticism.
It is one of the times when you feel most alive!
